Whether shooting indoors or out, the Z150 produces
very good images. It can nimbly adjust to varying conditions automatically
or with some photographer intervention.
Aperture: F/2.6 Shutter Speed: 1/250 second ISO: 64
Although it especially shines when lighting
conditions are optimal and the unit's extra low ISO 64 setting can be
brought into play, it can hold its own in challenging lighting conditions,
too. The shot below was taken in night mode with a tripod.
Aperture: F/2.6 Shutter Speed: 1/5 second ISO: 400
With an assortment of scene modes--a/k/a Best
Shot--desirable shots, like sunsets, can be captured with a minimum of fuss.
Aperture: F/3.7 Shutter Speed: 1/200 second ISO: 100
While it's best to use a tripod for low shutter
speed shots, the Z150's anti-shake technology lets a shutterbug push the
envelope and shoot at speeds that would otherwise be inadvisable to shoot
at.
Aperture: F/2.6 Shutter Speed: 1/10 second ISO: 400
The Z150 takes good indoor photos with a
flash. Low light flash photos are sometimes over-exposed, but that can
be corrected with the unit's flash compensation feature. In the photo
below, the camera created a satisfying exposure by balancing its flash
output with the natural light in the scene.
Aperture: F/3.7 Shutter Speed: 1/60 second ISO: 200
The Z150 has a number of features that give
a clickster flexibility when shooting. Exposure compensation, for instance,
allows a shot to be taken out of the shadows and into a more natural light.
The photo on the left was shot without exposure compensation; the shot on
the right, with EC, was overexposed by two stops.
Aperture: F/2.6 Shutter Speed: 1/6 second ISO: 400
Aperture: F/2.6 Shutter Speed: 1/3 second ISO: 400
Although the Z150 doesn't confine creativity
as much as some point-and-shoot cameras, its emphasis on pre-programmed
shooting can tax the imagination. In the shot below, the problem was capturing
the banner on a windy day. A macro shot was called for, but the shutter
speed for the camera's macro mode wasn't fast enough to shoot the banner
moving in the wind. We finally settled on Sport mode as a compromise solution.

Aperture: F/2.6 Shutter Speed: 1/2 second ISO: 64
The Z150 supports light sensitivity ranging
from ISO 64-1600. At ISO 64, there's very little noise or grain in photos,
but at 1600, a substantial amount of both is introduced.

In addition to still shots, the Z150 shoots
video. At its highest quality, the video is good for posting to sharing
sites like YouTube. The sound quality of the video, though is only fair.
