FujiFilm's
FinePix A101 is probably the company's lowest priced digital camera to
date, priced below $200 US, a price comparable to some CMOS-based cameras
with VGA resolution.
The
top of the FinePix A101 supports the power switch, the shutter
release and the Mode dial. The power switch instantly turns
on the camera, and opens the barrier that protects the lens when the camera
is not in use.
The Mode dial surrounds the shutter release and provides three positions:
Record,
Playback,
Movie.
The back of the FinePix A101 provides a 1.6 inch, D-TFT, LCD screen with
55,000 pixels. Its resolution is somewhat coarser than comparably sized
LCD screens found on more expensive cameras, but is sufficient to frame
shot and read the menu.
An
optical viewfinder is also present, with an 80% frame coverage.
On the right of the LCD screen are 4 buttons, the largest being the 4-direction
control used to navigate the menu, and activate the digital zoom, only
available in the Movie mode, or if the camera is set to VGA (640 x 480).
Below is a Display button used to turn on and off the LCD screen
and display framing guidelines.
Next is the Menu/OK button to bring up the menu and confirm selections.
Last is the Back button which is used to cancel a selection, or
back out of the menu.
As can be expected, the FinePix A101 is a very simple to use and basic
camera. Yet it offers a manual mode, like other FujiFilm cameras, that
permits some adjustment of the photographic settings.
