The DiMAGE A200 benefits from the use of a crisp EVF and sharp monitor, and an interface design that makes good use of colours and very legible fonts at an appropriate size for the displays. In addition, some functions can be accessed through shortcuts, effectively eliminating a number of steps (see below).

The Setup menu is reachable from all the menu screens, accessed through a tab at the top right of the menus for the still image, movie and playback modes:

  • LCD Brightness: allows adjusting the EVF or monitor brightness independently.
  • Lens Accessory: lets the camera know when an accessory lens has been mounted (None, Wide converter, Tele converter).
  • Transfer Mode has 2 settings: Data Storage which lets the A200 appear as a hard disk when connected via USB to a computer, or PTP which allows connecting the A200 to a PictBridge compliant printer and printing photos directly without a computer.
  • Date/Time Set: sets the date and time on the camera.
  • Video Output selects the video out signal: NTSC or PAL.
  • Language: English, French, German, Spanish, Simplified Chinese, Japanese, Italian and Swedish.
  • Shortcut Help: lists the shortcut buttons:
    • = LCD brightness.
    • Shift + = Focus Screens.
    • Shift + MENU button = Setup menu.
    • Shift + = Reset Camera.
    • Controller = WB set.
  • File Number Memory: On or Off. When On image file names are numbered sequentially.
  • Folder Name: to select if folders will be named with a number (Standard) or with the month, day and year (Date).
  • Select Folder: serves to change from one folder to another.
    • New Folder: serves to create a new folder.
  • Reset Default: returns the camera to its factory settings.
  • Audio Signals: Confirms operations on the A200. Two different sounds are available or Off.
  • Focus Signal: provides 2 different sounds or Off.
  • Shutter FX: 2 different sounds or Off.
  • Volume: sets the volume for all camera sounds.
  • Power Save: sets the delay before the camera turns off the monitors (1, 3, 5 or 10 minutes). After 30 minutes the camera shuts down completely.
  • Anti-Shake: decides when the Anti-Shake system is activated, Display and Exposure has the Anti-Shake system turn on when the shutter release is pressed halfway, and its effect is visible in the live image. Exposure Only turns the Anti-Shake system On when the shutter release is held partway in but is not reflected in the live image.
  • Delete Confirmation: Yes or No. When set to yes, a confirmation screen is displayed before an image is deleted.
Konica Minolta includes a printed manual with the DiMAGE A200. The instructions are clear and detailed, and all functions and operations of the A200 are very well explained.

Software

Konica Minolta provides their DiMAGE Viewer for Windows XP, Me, 2000 Pro, Windows 98/98 Second Edition, and for Macintosh computers running Mac OS 9.0-9.2.2 or Mac OS X v.10.1.3-10.1.5, v.10.2.1-10.2.8 and v.10.3-10.3.5.

Dimage Viewer is an image viewer and organizer that offers extensive photo editing capabilities. The program starts by presenting photos as thumbnails, but double-clicking any of the thumbnail opens the image at a much larger scale for editing.

In the editing window, images can be adjusted for brightness, contrast, colour balance, hue, saturation, lightness, and sharpness, and many of the adjustments are made in separate windows that feature a 100% preview.

Furthermore, the program provides a "variations" window which offers multiple views of the image as it would appear after changes to the colour balance, brightness, contrast, and saturation.

DiMAGE Viewer also serves to access RAW images and convert them to a non-proprietary formats such as JPEG or TIFF. DiMAGE Viewer opens RAW images in a special window where they can be adjusted for colour mode, white balance, filter, saturation, contrast, and exposure compensation (±2EV). In addition the sharpness of the image can be adjusted, and a preview of all changes to the image is shown.

Moreover, once specific settings for conversion have been established these can be saved and recalled at a later point to process other similar RAW photos automatically.
In addition to DiMAGE Viewer, Konica Minolta includes a second disc containing Ulead VideoStudio 8SE, software which allows editing the movies captured with the A200.
