The ON-OFF switch is activated by sliding the lens cover to the side, revealing the viewfinder and the lens and providing good solid protection for the latter. The designers also gave some thought to where the user's fingers end up. It seems impossible to cover accidentally either the lens or the flash.

The placement of the viewfinder precludes your nose squishing against the LCD screen in the back, and the shutter release falls naturally under the index.

The optical viewfinder is one of the better ones we have seen on any Point and Shoot. It is bright and comfortable even if you wear glasses. All in all, this is a well designed camera. The only negatives we noticed were the LED timer light, housed in a bulbous little red plastic blister, that gets in the way of the sleek design; and the connector port cover which appears to have a fragile plastic hinge. Of the two, the second is the most important, as if the hinge breaks, it could be difficult to have it fixed. The red LED blister is only ungainly and too protruding, and is more a question of aesthetics.
