Here are a few images that accurately reflect the abilities
of any given camera model. The images are altered only in
terms of size and sharpness after reduction and by the JPEG
compression used. Unless otherwise mentioned, assume that
any marbling or artifacts visible in the images are due to
the compression required to display them here. We feel however,
that they still faithfully represent the results we experienced.
STILL
LIFE PHOTO
This scene was photographed indoors with a flash in a
room with subdued natural lighting. This photo is taken at the widest
setting of camera's zoom lens using Digital ESP metering mode. Overall
exposure is good. Objects at the periphery of the image are adequately
lit. When viewed at 100 percent in an image editor, there was little noise,
even in the dark areas on the floor. The center of the photo is sharp,
but the detail of objects were soft in areas outside the triangle formed
by the camera, lamp and tripod-light. Colors are natural with good fidelity
to what's seen with the naked eye. Detail outside the window is soft due
to the low aperture setting chosen by the camera.

ZOOM STILL LIFE PHOTO
This shot tests the camera's zoom on the still life scene
under the same lighting and metering conditions.
With the zoom at maximum telephoto, the camera produced a sharp and
evenly exposed image with very little discernable noise. Detail was
good. Although the mode dial is out of focus, texture of camera strap
and numbers on the lens barrel were sharp. Colors were vivid.

MACRO PHOTO
This is a close-up test shot. The test object
is about 4.5 inches wide by 3.5 inches high.
This photo was taken about seven inches from the subject
with the lens at its maximum telephoto setting. Detail was excellent with
little discernable noise. Glass elements and metalwork were sharply rendered
and well-defined. Color is true to the lighting situation.

BUILDING PHOTO
This is an outdoor test shot taken in Digital ESP metering
mode. The house has lots of fine detail in the shingles and slate roof,
as well as the architectural design of the doorway.
Elements in the photo are sharp and the colors are true. Exposure is
very good, especially the sky, which would be blown out with a less
adept exposure system. Displaying the image at 100 percent in a photo
editor showed no noise in the typical places--the dark spots under the
eaves and in the doorway itself. Shingles on the house, panels on the
door and icebreakers on the roof were sharp and nicely rendered.

ZOOM BUILDING PHOTO
Without moving from the spot that the building photo
was taken, the image of the entrance to the house was captured with the
camera's zoom at maximum telephoto. Image stabilization was enabled. At
100 percent view in a photo editor little noise was detected. All detail
was terrific--from the peeling paint on the columns to the entrance to
the leaves on the trees to the fine lines in the lace curtains in the
windows. Color appeared natural and faithful to the lighting in the scene.
