Here are a few images that accurately reflect the abilities
of any given camera model. The images are altered only in
terms of size and sharpness after reduction and by the JPEG
compression used. Unless otherwise mentioned, assume that
any marbling or artifacts visible in the images are due to
the compression required to display them here. We feel however,
that they still faithfully represent the results we experienced.
STILL LIFE PHOTO
This scene was photographed indoors with a flash in a room with subdued
natural lighting.
This photo is taken with a Zuiko 14-42mm lens at its widest setting (28mm
equivalent). Auto mode with image stabilization (IS.1) was used for the
shot. The picture's exposure drops off slightly from the right side of
the image, which was closest to the flash, to its left side. When viewed
at 100 percent in a photo editing program, detail on the right side of
the image is sharper than that on the left. For instance, text on the
boxes at the right is very sharp when viewed at 100 percent, while that
in the left corner of the photo is soft. Overall sharpness, though, is
good, and noise levels in the image are very low. Colors in the shot reflect
what is seen by the human eye. Depth of field for a flash shot is excellent.

ZOOM STILL LIFE PHOTO
This shot tests the camera and zoom lens at full telephoto on the still
life scene under the same lighting and metering conditions.
As in the long shot of this scene, there's some drop-off in exposure
from right to left. The camera is appropriately exposed and its details
are sharp and well-rendered. Objects around the camera--tabletop, T-square
background boxes are softly rendered. Viewed at 100 percent in photo editing
software, noise was discernable in the backpack and radiator in the left
corner of the image, which was furthest from the flash. Color in the photo
is a little brighter than what would appear in natural light, but very
acceptable.

MACRO PHOTO
This is macro test shot. The test object is about 4.5 inches
wide by 3.5 inches high.
This photo was taken with the camera in macro mode and about six inches
from the subject. Viewed at 100 percent in a photo editor, image was sharp
and detail was very good. The object's colors are nicely captured but
the white tablecloth appeared gray. White Balance for the shot was Auto.
The object is appropriately exposed but the upper right corner of the
image appears to be slightly underexposed compared to the rest of the
photo. Noise was near non-existent.

BUILDING PHOTO
This is an outdoor test shot taken in Auto mode. The house has lots
of fine detail in the shingles and slate roof, as well as the architectural
design of the doorway.
Displaying the image at 100 percent in a photo editor showed good color
fidelity and exposure. Noise was indiscernible. From clapboards in the
house in the far background to the remaining leaves in the dogwood trees
in the foreground, details in the image are sharp and finely rendered.

ZOOM BUILDING PHOTO
Without moving from the spot that the building photo was taken, the image
of the entrance to house was captured with the zoom extended to its maximum
focal length.
The shot was nicely exposed and detail was excellent. At 100 percent
in a photo editor, leaves in the trees, as well as the patterns in the
lace curtains in the windows, were finely rendered, distinct and sharp.
Even the reflection of the trees in the house’s windows was impressively
captured. The camera did a fine job of dampening noise, especially in
trouble spots like the dark areas under the eaves. All lines were smoothly
reproduced.
