Our Opinion
Many camera makers brag about the consistent quality of their shooters. In the case of Pentax, it's not bragging. It's fact. The K2000 delivers excellent photographs in a variety of situations. Outdoor shots were terrific. Indoor shots were fine, too. The K2000's exposure and focusing systems were undaunted by lighting conditions of every stripe and were able to capture the nuances of scenes with arresting fidelity.

Aperture: F/9.5 Shutter Speed: 1/180 second ISO: 200
The K2000 kit comes with an 18-55mm DAL Pentax zoom lens. The wide end of the zoom is perfect for capturing eye-pleasing landscape shots.
Aperture: F/9.5 Shutter Speed: 1/180 second ISO: 200
The K2000's zoom is also apt at nabbing sharp detail in macro photos.
Aperture: F/8 Shutter Speed: 1/350 second ISO: 200
Aperture: F/9.5 Shutter Speed: 1/180 second ISO: 200
For indoor shots, the K2000 has a pop-up flash. It works well with the unit, producing photos that are properly exposed and with good color rendering.

Our K2000 kit included an external flash unit. The AF-200FG flash in auto mode combined with the camera's auto mode was very easy to use. It came in handy for wide interior shots where it produced nice even edge-to-edge lighting in snapshots.

Aperture: F/4 Shutter Speed: 1/45 second ISO: 200
The capability to shoot 10MP images at 3.5 frame per second coupled with a fast and accurate continuous autofocusing mode lets you capture just the right moment when it happens.
Aperture: F/9.5 Shutter Speed: 1/180 second ISO: 200
Pentax has added an element of fun to the K2000 by including filter options that can be applied to images before or after they're taken. The high contrast filter, for example, can turn a drab bird house into a surreal one.
Aperture: F/5.6 Shutter Speed: 1/350 second ISO: 100
For shooting in certain stock situations, the K2000 has a number of scene modes, including a mode for capturing night shots.
Aperture: F/3.5 Shutter Speed: 1/3 second ISO: 200
Aperture: F/8 Shutter Speed: 1/500 second ISO: 100
ISO: 100
ISO: 3200
ISO 3200 with noise reduction
Light sensitivity values for the K2000 range from ISO 100-3200. At ISO 100, noise levels are very scant. At ISO 3200, noise levels substantially increase. Those levels can be dampened, though, by using the camera's Hi ISO noise reduction feature.
