Here are a few images that accurately reflect the abilities
of any given camera model. The images are altered only in
terms of size and sharpness after reduction and by the JPEG
compression used. Unless otherwise mentioned, assume that
any marbling or artifacts visible in the images are due to
the compression required to display them here. We feel however,
that they still faithfully represent the results we experienced.
STILL LIFE
PHOTO
This scene was photographed indoors with a flash in a room
with subdued natural lighting.
This photo is taken with a Pentax DA 18-55mm zoom lens at the widest
setting. Program mode and image stabilization were used for the shot.
The picture is evenly exposed and the colors appear natural with no aberrations
from the flash, such as washout. When viewed at 100% in an image editor,
there was very little noise and the detail in the image was finely rendered.

This
shot tests the camera and zoom lens at full telephoto on the still life
scene under the same lighting and metering conditions.
This
image was very nicely exposed and its detail was excellent. Viewing the
picture at 100% in a photo editing program revealed very little discernible
noise. Color was natural and faithful to what was viewed by the human
eye.

MACRO PHOTO
This is a macro test shot. The test object is about 4.5 inches wide
by 3.5 inches high.
This shot was taken with the camera in macro mode and about six inches
from the subject. Viewed at 100% in a photo editor, detail was superlative
and color excellent. Noise was near non-existent. This was a very impressive
rendering of the subject.
BUILDING
PHOTO
This is an outdoor test shot. The house has lots of fine
detail in the shingles and slate roof, as well as the architectural design
of the doorway.
Displaying the image at 100% in a photo editor showed outstanding detail
and sharpness, excellent color rendering and an absence of noise.

ZOOM BUILDING PHOTO
Without moving from the spot at which the building photo
was taken, the image of the entrance to house was captured with the zoom
extended to its maximum focal length. Again, quality was outstanding.
Exposure was on-target. Detail in leaves and flowers were very sharp.
Color imitated life marvelously. Typical trouble spots--shadows in the
doorway, for instance--were noise free.
