PLEASE NOTE:

Here are a few images that accurately reflect the abilities of any given camera model. The images are altered only in terms of size and sharpness after reduction and by the JPEG compression used. Unless otherwise mentioned, assume that any marbling or artifacts visible in the images are due to the compression required to display them here. We feel however, that they still faithfully represent the results we experienced.

STILL LIFE PHOTO

This scene was photographed indoors in a room lit by natural light on a cloudy day. The camera flash is used to add fill light.

This photo is taken at the widest setting of camera's zoom lens using the unit's center-weighted exposure mode, which we found produced the best quality for this scene. When viewed at 100 percent in an image editor, there was some evidence of noise on the walls near the radiator and on the sheer curtains. Overall, thought, the picture was very clean. Objects in the photo were sharply rendered without any hint of jaggedness. Colors have good saturation and fidelity. Detail outside the window is fairly crisp and properly exposed.

Photo Information
Format: JPG Aperture: F/3.5
Exposure: Normal Shutter Speed: 1/45 second
Resolution: 3264 x 2448 Flash: yes
Quality: Superfine ISO: 100
File Size: 3.78MB Focal Lgth: 6.0mm

ZOOM STILL LIFE PHOTO

This shot tests the camera's zoom on the still life scene under the same lighting and metering conditions.

With the zoom at maximum telephoto, the camera produced a sharp and evenly exposed image with very little discernable noise. Small details like the icons on the mode dial were clearly rendered. Color fidelity was good, although the red surface beneath the camera was a bit oversaturated.

Photo Information
Format: JPG Aperture: 4.9
Expo: Auto Shutter Speed: 1/128 sec
Res: 3264 x 2448 Flash: On
Quality: Superfine ISO: 100
File Size: 3.79 MB Focal Lgth: 30.0 mm

MACRO PHOTO

This is macro test shot. The test object is about 4.5 inches wide by 3.5 inches high.

This Samsung model has a macro and super macro made. Both macro photos were shot using the multi metering mode. The photo on the left was taken in macro mode with a flash. It is sharp and has very little noise, but is a tad underexposed. At 100 percent in a photo editor, the metal latticework is nicely rendered. Color fidelity is good. The photo on the right was shot in super macro mode without a flash. It is slightly more noisy than the macro shot and the color is a bit undersaturated. At 100 percent in an image editor, the latticework had softer lines than those in the macro shot.

Photo Information
Format: JPG Aperture: 4.9

BUILDING PHOTO

This is an outdoor test shot taken in multi metering mode. The house has lots of fine detail in the shingles and slate roof, as well as the architectural design of the doorway.

Elements in the photo are sharp and the colors are true. Displaying the image at 100 percent in a photo editor showed barely noticeable noise under the eaves of the roof.

Photo Information
Format: JPG Aperture: 5.5
Exposure: Normal Shutter Speed: 1/350 sec.
Resolution: 3264 x 2448 Flash: Off
Quality: Superfine ISO: 80
File Size: 2.09MB Focal Lgth: 6.0mm

ZOOM BUILDING PHOTO

Without moving from the spot that the building photo was taken, the image of the entrance to house was captured with the camera's zoom at maximum telephoto. Image stabilization was enabled and multi metering mode was used. At 100 percent view in a photo editor some slight noise could be detected in the shadow areas under the gable over the entrance to the house. Otherwise, detail was sharp, especially the branches of the dogwood tree in the foreground. Color is faithful to real life.

Photo Information
Format: JPG Aperture: 4.9
Exposure: Normal Shutter Speed: 1/500 sec.
Resolution: 3264 x 2448 Flash: Off
Quality: Superfine ISO: 80
