Here are a few images that accurately reflect the abilities
of any given camera model. The images are altered only in
terms of size and sharpness after reduction and by the JPEG
compression used. Unless otherwise mentioned, assume that
any marbling or artifacts visible in the images are due to
the compression required to display them here. We feel however,
that they still faithfully represent the results we experienced.

This scene was photographed
indoors with a flash in a room with subdued natural lighting.
This photos was taken with the TL34's 3.6x optical zoom
at its widest setting. The image is evenly exposed and the colors are
faithful to what's seen by the human eye. At 100 percent in a photo editor
(photo at right), there was evidence of noise everywhere in the image.
Noise was especially pronounced in dark subjects. Edges of objects in
the photo were soft.

This shot tests the camera
and zoom lens at full telephoto on the still life scene under the same
lighting and metering conditions.
As in the previous shot, the exposure is relatively even.
Color is slightly undersaturated. Noise can again be seen throughout the
photo when it's displayed at 100 percent in an image editor. Details (photo
at right) are muddy at that display percentage.

This is macro test shot.
The test object is about 4.5 inches wide by 3.5 inches high.
This shot was captured in Macro scene mode without a flash and with
optical image stabilization enabled. Subject was about four inches from
camera. Frame is slightly underexposed. Colors are natural. At 100 percent
in an image editor, there was visible noise (photo at right), but not
as much as in the still life shots. Detail is also soft but more substantial
than in the still life shots.

This is an outdoor test
shot taken in Auto mode. The house has lots of fine detail in the shingles
and slate roof, as well as the architectural design of the doorway.
Shot at very low ISO 80, the building image has very little discernable
noise when viewed in an image editor at 100 percent. Detail (see photo
at right) was excellent. Color was faithful to what's seen by the human
eye.

This is an outdoor test
shot taken in Auto Without moving from the spot that the building photo
was taken, the image of the entrance to house was captured with the zoom
extended to its maximum focal length.
This photo is nicely exposed with very little discernible noise (photo
at right) when viewed at 100 percent in a photo editor. Detail is sharp
and color fidelity very good. The camera did a good job of reproducing
the dynamic range in the shot to make it "pop" on the screen.
